By this point in the day, the big parking lots were mostly empty. According to photo timestamps, we left Rifugio Auronzo at 11:23 am and here I am arriving back at 5:04 pm. So much for an quick 3-hour hike. We agreed we still would have taken this hike if we'd known how long it would take, but it sure would have been nice to know in advance.

The morning we were leaving Cortina was beautiful. This shot was taken from our hotel balcony. There's a cable car that runs from the town up to the station on the wooded hill in the foreground of this picture. A separate cable car then heads up to the station in the upper right. We never did ride any of Cortina's cable cars.
